<![CDATA[The Inside Studio | Online Interior Design Services Australia - blog]]>Mon, 20 Mar 2017 16:50:30 -0700Weebly<![CDATA[WALL STYLE Designer Giclee Art Prints]]>Mon, 20 Mar 2017 03:57:55 GMThttp://theinsidestudio.com.au/blog/wall-style-designer-giclee-art-printsWall Style is the new kid on the art scene block with an exclusive range of art prints with customisable framing options. The business came about after they saw a gap in the retail market for quality art prints. They offer stunning, quality, timeless prints that will last the test of time and suit a variety of interior styles.

Each print is individually designed in their Gold Coast studio, creating pieces that are both stylish and unique. The quality of their art and framing is just perfection. Each print is of archival quality that lasts well over 50 years and is hand framed in Australia by artisan framers using only the finest quality materials.

Wall Style has designed their whole concept around the fact that people work to budgets, hence why they have created both framed and unframed versions. Even though the framed prints that they provide are of the highest quality standard, they have ensured that their medium and large sized prints are able to fit Ikea Ribba frames. This is a fabulous idea, as it allows the budget conscious to purchase high quality art prints and frame them themselves, for less.

I have so many favourites from their range, its hard to pick, but I will post a few below.

<![CDATA[DESIGNER RUG'S COLLABORATION WITH PETRINA TURNER]]>Mon, 30 May 2016 04:18:07 GMThttp://theinsidestudio.com.au/blog/designer-rugs-collaboration-with-petrina-turner
If you are not already familiar with the Designer Rugs brand, I recommend you enlighten yourself. Designer Rugs is Australia's most innovative and design focused rug company. They have been in the business for 30 years and as well as having their own in house collections, they also regularly collaborate with well know Australian artists and designers, such as Alex Perry, Camilla and Greg Natale.

Designer Rugs most recent collaboration is with stylist and designer Petrina Turner. The range is called NEW AGAIN and features bold colour palettes and textures, while referencing historical nostalgia in a stunning contemporary fashion.

I have been lucky to get my hot little hands on a sample of one of my favourite rugs from the New Again range, the "Evelyn". The bold fuscia colour works in perfectly with charcoals, rich blues, whites and warm timber tones. I am currently working on an inspiration board for a master bedroom scheme (you can see the flat lay above), where I have teamed the beautiful Evelyn rug with charcoal accents from Zakkia homewares, classic marble, a touch of blue, and some luxe linen fabric for a gorgeous bedhead and upholstered base from Heatherley Design.

I have included some images from the Designer Rugs website of some more beautiful pieces from Petrina Turner's New Again range.

<![CDATA[ZAKKIA... RAW SOPHISTICATION]]>Wed, 25 May 2016 02:33:15 GMThttp://theinsidestudio.com.au/blog/zakkia-raw-sophistication
I am a homewares fanatic and one company that I am majorly crushing over at the moment is Zakkia. They are a Sydney based company whose aesthetic is "Swedish heritage meets natural handmade design". They are divine. They "design homewares that celebrate the natural beauty of raw materials", whilst giving each of their pieces a unique look and finish through a handmade process. Zakkia's range is perfect for a wide range of interior styles, as their materials range from a sleek black glass sophistication, to a textured white vase all the way through to raw concrete vessels.

All of the products are designed by the very talented Swedish born Sara Lundgren. She follows a clean and minimal Scandinavian design philosophy whilst designing the products to have multiple uses - which I love.

You can shop the products here.

<![CDATA[STYLING TIPS FOR RENTERS]]>Tue, 19 Apr 2016 10:06:30 GMThttp://theinsidestudio.com.au/blog/styling-tips-for-rentersI was recently interviewed by Rachael Jansen from the Gold Coast Bulletin to share some tips on how renters can make temporary and inexpensive touches to help personalise their house and turn it into a home. In the last five years my family and I have moved to quite a few different towns around Australia, some of them being quite remote and it was through this experience that me made realise how important it is to feel at home when you are renting. During this time that I started up "The Inside Studio" as I became aware of the demand for people to have access to affordable interior design services and products, no matter what their budget, location or if they rented or owned their own home.

<![CDATA[BUDGET GIRLS BEDROOM USING KMART AND TARGET HOMEWARES!]]>Wed, 24 Feb 2016 01:17:47 GMThttp://theinsidestudio.com.au/blog/budget-girls-bedroom-using-kmart-and-target-homewaresMy blog posts have been a bit few and far between lately, but this is something that I am going to change. I'm back! I have been busy with not only juggling interior jobs, but also building and designing my own house. It's hard doing your own house... and working to a struck budget. Which has made me think more and more about budget room ideas. I have said it before and I will say it again (I sound like my mother)... you don't have to spend a fortune to give your space a makeover. I know not everyone is in a position to spend up big to give their kids rooms a total makeover. Which I why I have put together a scheme for a little girls room for you...for free. Everything I have selected is from Kmart or Target and it is all REALLY WELL PRICED! And in my opinion in looks FAB! See below for the complete shopping list. Just click on the link to go directly to the site to purchase any item. And no.. this post is not sponsored. Just sharing the love.

<![CDATA[CURRUMBIN, GOLD COAST HOUSE RENOVATION]]>Tue, 08 Sep 2015 01:16:27 GMThttp://theinsidestudio.com.au/blog/currumbin-gold-coast-house-renovationAfter moving around the country for my husbands job for the last couple of years we have finally moved back home. We have mixed with the brown snakes in Moranbah, the box jellyfish in Mackay, the lights of Brisbane and now we are back to the sunny white beaches of the Gold Coast. And it is now finally time to transform our modest, run down beach shack into a fabulous beach house and I thought I would blog the journey. I must say, I find the whole process quite stressful, and I find it is much easier designing other peoples houses! We are working to a very strict budget, but hope to have an unrecognisable and amazing transformation in the end.

We were lucky enough to have Wayne, who is a local architect from Habitat Studio Architects Pty Ltd come up with the exterior design for us. He did an amazing job, and it is no easy feat coming up with a scheme and delivering it to a designer client. I will be doing all of the interior selections and designs and furniture schemes for the different spaces. So I will be sure to share it all with you and let you know where you can buy the different pieces from and who the suppliers are.
Before
Proposed After. The front of the house faces West so have battened it as a design feature as well for providing essential shade from the harsh sun.
Proposed view and extension to the back of the house. Unfortunately for us and our budget restraints, the extension will be part of the stage 2 build.
And it's started. Whoop!

<![CDATA[EMPERORS GATE BY DYER GRIMES]]>Tue, 01 Sep 2015 01:17:43 GMThttp://theinsidestudio.com.au/blog/emperors-gate-by-dyer-grimes Emperors Gate is an award winning home by Dyer Grimes Architects. It is a design that I have crushing over for quite some time and have posted numerous inspirational images to my Instagram feed. So I thought it was time to share it properly with my lovely readers, so you to can experience the enviable and sophisticated space which scored The Sunday Times British Homes Awards win of the best 2014 Interior Design. At the core of the triplex is a sculptural staircase that wraps around an amazingLindsey Adelman pendant, which creates an abundance of light and drama that can be read throughout the house.

The top level is devoted to a luxurious master suite which introduces a surprising and stunning splash of colour. While the space has been giving a contemporary make over, the architectural team took care to keep the original Victorian mouldings and trims throughout the design, creating an award winning, classic, contemporary masterpiece.
