It is that time of the year again when The Australian Interior Design Awards "recognise and celebrate interior design excellence". A time when I can lust over totally swoon worthy spaces that have designed with the upmost talent, style and taste. Below are some of my favourites.
I have justed stumbled across an amazing house at Potts Point designed by Arent & Pyke. They described the design process as "reinventing a dark, slick city apartment into a warm uplifting sanctuary". Arent & Pyke have not held back with the use of colour, instead using it with texture in an unconventional manner to produce an absolutely divine space.
The overall look of a bathroom benefits greatly from styling, whether it is old and in desperate need of an update, or a brand spanking new one that is craving those extra final touches to take it from an OK space to a WOW one. Bathrooms tend to be a cold spaces with a lot of hard finishes such as tiles, mirrors, baths and basins, so they need to be softened and given some extra warmth.
1. Towels. The first stop for a bathroom makeover that can achieve an instant result. They update a bathroom with luxurious softness and create an extra layer of interest and texture to the space. They can be perfectly positioned over the towel rail or draped in messy perfection over a gorgeous bath. And there are SO MANY gorgeous towels around, that giving your bathroom that extra lift is surprisingly easy. A few of my favourite one stop towel shops are: Canadian design studio Jean-Claude Le Blanc (JCL) has recently launched a new collection crafted entirely from white Carrara marble and silver and brass spikes. These unique pieces from his luxurious collection consist of bookends, a multipurpose container and both small and large vases. You can read more about these items and purchase them on the JCL site here. One word. AMAZING.
