After the huge amount of interest the blog post for the girls bedroom received, I decided not to leave the boys out and to do one for them as well. The below design is 100% from Kmart and perfect for the budget conscious. Please see the end of the post for links to all the products so you can start shopping! Enjoy. X I wanted to keep the above design 100% Kmart, but if you wanted to take the design one step further, a rattan pendant light from The Family Love Tree would look amazing hanging from the centre of the room. The medium size is currently on sale for $89.00. you can shop for it here. My blog posts have been a bit few and far between lately, but this is something that I am going to change. I'm back! I have been busy with not only juggling interior jobs, but also building and designing my own house. It's hard doing your own house... and working to a struck budget. Which has made me think more and more about budget room ideas. I have said it before and I will say it again (I sound like my mother)... you don't have to spend a fortune to give your space a makeover. I know not everyone is in a position to spend up big to give their kids rooms a total makeover. Which I why I have put together a scheme for a little girls room for you...for free. Everything I have selected is from Kmart or Target and it is all REALLY WELL PRICED! And in my opinion in looks FAB! See below for the complete shopping list. Just click on the link to go directly to the site to purchase any item. And no.. this post is not sponsored. Just sharing the love.
Emperors Gate is an award winning home by Dyer Grimes Architects. It is a design that I have crushing over for quite some time and have posted numerous inspirational images to my Instagram feed. So I thought it was time to share it properly with my lovely readers, so you to can experience the enviable and sophisticated space which scored The Sunday Times British Homes Awards win of the best 2014 Interior Design. At the core of the triplex is a sculptural staircase that wraps around an amazingLindsey Adelman pendant, which creates an abundance of light and drama that can be read throughout the house.
The top level is devoted to a luxurious master suite which introduces a surprising and stunning splash of colour. While the space has been giving a contemporary make over, the architectural team took care to keep the original Victorian mouldings and trims throughout the design, creating an award winning, classic, contemporary masterpiece. Photography: Jack Hobhouse It is that time of the year again when The Australian Interior Design Awards "recognise and celebrate interior design excellence". A time when I can lust over totally swoon worthy spaces that have designed with the upmost talent, style and taste. Below are some of my favourites.
I have justed stumbled across an amazing house at Potts Point designed by Arent & Pyke. They described the design process as "reinventing a dark, slick city apartment into a warm uplifting sanctuary". Arent & Pyke have not held back with the use of colour, instead using it with texture in an unconventional manner to produce an absolutely divine space.
The overall look of a bathroom benefits greatly from styling, whether it is old and in desperate need of an update, or a brand spanking new one that is craving those extra final touches to take it from an OK space to a WOW one. Bathrooms tend to be a cold spaces with a lot of hard finishes such as tiles, mirrors, baths and basins, so they need to be softened and given some extra warmth.
1. Towels. The first stop for a bathroom makeover that can achieve an instant result. They update a bathroom with luxurious softness and create an extra layer of interest and texture to the space. They can be perfectly positioned over the towel rail or draped in messy perfection over a gorgeous bath. And there are SO MANY gorgeous towels around, that giving your bathroom that extra lift is surprisingly easy. A few of my favourite one stop towel shops are: Canadian design studio Jean-Claude Le Blanc (JCL) has recently launched a new collection crafted entirely from white Carrara marble and silver and brass spikes. These unique pieces from his luxurious collection consist of bookends, a multipurpose container and both small and large vases. You can read more about these items and purchase them on the JCL site here. One word. AMAZING.
Has anyone noticed the stunning furniture and homewards that Adairs now sells in store? The range caters for a variety of taste and styles, featuring pieces from much loved brands Mercer & Reid, Home Republic and Sassoon Home. The classic linen bedheads and blanket boxes (that are divine), to the contemporary, sleek side tables, are all amazing quality and very reasonable priced. Have a look at some of my favourites below:
I am just going to put it out there… I love fairy lights. In my opinion they should not be confined to the Christmas tree or to the festive season. Use them and flaunt them whenever and wherever your heart desires. You can create a whimsical and romantic atmosphere to your home both easily and for little cost.
Let your imagination run wild, as they can be used almost anywhere in the house. You can use them to drape around rooms, to light up artworks, to decorate a headboard, or to light a beautiful mirror. |
