I read about this house on the D Pages blog and had to look into it further and share its amazingness with you. This “Harbour Edge” house is located in Auckland and designed by Fearon Hay Architects. The existing villa which was built c.1910 has been reworked with an extension added all “responding to the requirements of modern living”. It has been designed around the coastal outlook, with the interior spaces framing these views like artworks.
As described on Fearon Hay’s website, “A new sky-lit kitchen is placed between the original structure and its new twin – the central space conceived as an internal courtyard between the new and the old.”
The end result is just pure joy. If I could personally pick my dream house, this would have to be it. It is so fresh and contemporary, yet with so much character and feeling.

I love the light and airy space, which could even be described as dreamy. The dark rug against all of the light colours helps define the areas and the gives the space and sense of depth. The new design compliments the original features and feel of the house perfectly. By keeping these original features, so much character and feeling has added to the house, something that contemporary houses often lack. This house feels like it has a soul.
Are words needed for this bathroom? The classic black and white palette exudes pure elegance and sophistication. The Missoni towel just finishes it off perfectly.
